Ed Skrein (Game of Thrones) and Gina Carano (Haywire) play the villainous duo Ajax and Angel Dust in Tim Miller’s R-rated superhero film Deadpool. At San Diego Comic-Con this past weekend, they divulged some new details about their characters.

“The workshop that we run is very similar to Weapon X in that we take terminally-ill soldiers and we give them superpowers,” Skrein told IGN. “Ajax (Skrein) and Angel Dust (Carano) went through that process themselves and now we run the program and we’re the people that changed Wade Wilson (Ryan Reynolds) into Deadpool.”

Skrein, a HUGE comic book fan, worked with Carano to develop an Angel Dust backstory. “We decided Ajax kind of found her,” Carano said. “Pretty much Angel Dust will only listen to Ajax. I’m like a horse rearing to go and he pretty much has the reins.”

“We wanted to keep the relationship ambiguous in a sense,” Skrein explained. “We really wanted people to not know whether we were Brother and Sister, lovers, whether it is a teacher-pupil situation almost like a pimp and prostitute situation, for want of a better word.” Carano quickly chimed in, “He’s the prostitute.”
