For single episode of a regular series, 12 Monkeys, Game of Thrones, and Gotham all took nominations. Gotham, in fact, got nominated twice, both for episodes from the second season.

For TV movie, miniseries, or pilot, Blindspot and The Man in the High Castle both got nods.

The awards specifically look at the outstanding achievement in cinematography, meaning the way individual shots are framed and the use of the camera as a storytelling device. The nominations are interesting, with the regular series being exclusively genre shows or those not on traditional networks (Marco Polo, Netflix), with Amazon and Netflix also garnering three of the nominations for the second category.

The 12 Monkeys episode that was nominated featured disjointed storytelling in the first big revelation of Jennifer Goines and her role in the story. Gotham‘s two episodes nominated were back-to-back, season 2 episodes 4 and 5. In Strike Force, Michael Chiklis made his debut as Captain Barnes, while in Scarification, we saw the birth of Firefly and the first appearance of the Order of St. Dumas.

The awards will be given out on February 14, 2016. The full listing of nominees follows.
