This weekend, Focus Features invited us out to Los Angeles to get completely terrified… That’s exactly what happened.
After a Friday night screening of Insidious Chapter 3, we were tasked with taking on the Insidious Chapter 3 4D Experience. If Chapter 3 itself wasn’t enough to take all the sleep away, the Into The Further 4D Experience really put the nail in that coffin. The video below captures some of those embarrassing-but-fun-for-everyone-else, terrifying moments.

The 4D Experience was the whole terrifying package. Stepping inside, you’re hurled right into scenes from the movie. While my eyes tried to adjust from the bright Los Angeles day to this dark haunted hallway, my imagination recalled scenes from Insidious Chapter 3 – the same ones that had me looking over my shoulder on my way out of the theater.
Throughout the maze-like hallways flashes, smoke, and ghosts won a few screams from me. I won’t spoil the entire experience here because the brave souls who choose to step into the further deserve the full treatment. Once I stepped out of the hallways and into the room I was instructed to (holding the door shut behind me), I was greeted by a creepy young lady, who thankfully happened to be a friendly.
Said creepy young lady equipped me with an Oculus Rift headset and noise cancelling headphones before sitting me down in a chair. The thing about this virtual reality experience that was different from others I have participated in is that it kept me in the same room. Rather than putting on the headset and suddenly being somewhere else, like a jungle or on a boat, I was in the very same room with a memorable red door in front of me which made everything feel that much more real.
They say that the only way to conquer your fears is to face them but it’s officially hard to believe that. Insidious Chapter 3 is terrifying and participating in the 4D Experience didn’t make it any less so!
