In the interview, Isaac explained his history and enthusiasm for the character.

“The first comic I ever collected was X-Factor,” Isaac said, referencing the series that first introduced Apocalypse to the Marvel Universe, “…so I read that story, with Archangel and Apocalypse. I was also obsessed with the Book of Revelation a bit, I was a weird kid, so anything that referenced the second coming, or the rapture, or anything like that…So I was really into Apocalypse, so when I found out they were interested in me for it, I was really excited about it.”

Isaac goes on to mention that they have not begun discussing Apocalypse’s look for the film.

X-Men: Apocalypse will open in theaters May 27, 2016.
