Multiple sources for Latino Review have informed the site that production on the sequel “has been delayed until 2016.” When in 2016? They aren’t sure, nor do they know the reason for the hold up.

Guillermo will direct the sequel, based on a script he wrote with screenwriter Zak Penn (Elektra, X-Men: The Last Stand). Jaeger pilots Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) will be back and so will scientists Dr. Newton Geiszler (Charlie Day) and Dr. Hermann Gottlieb (Burn Gorman).

Film is scheduled to be released on August 4, 2017, but the delay in filming could push back its release.
