Back in February, Lucasfilm and Cartoon Network announced that Star Wars: The Clone Wars would bring all six of its critically-acclaimed seasons to Netflix in March, and yesterday the series went live on the popular streaming video service. The feature film adaptation of the series was also added, with “director’s cuts” of the episodes — longer than the versions that aired on Cartoon Network — available here as well as on the physical home video releases. The addition of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the first time that any Star Wars content has been available on Netflix. The deal follows a previous announcement that Disney and Netflix would be working together on multiple original series based on Marvel Comics characters exclusively for Netflix, creating The Defenders corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in 2015.The news also follows a previous announcement that Dark Horse Comics would be concluding Darth Maul’s story from Star Wars: The Clone Wars in a comic book miniseries.
