It appears that at one time that The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was going to be a somewhat different movie than what eventually made it on screen. BadAssDigest.com got a copy of an early draft of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 script, and they made list of ten major changes that were made in the final movie.

Some of the changes were already known, such as that original plans were to introduce Mary Jane into the franchise. However, other of the changes were a surprise. Another classic Spider-Man character that was in the original script was J. Jonah Jameson. Peter Parker brought his first spider-Man photos to J. Johan Jameson, who gave him a tour of the Daily Bugle. J. Jonah Jameson even complains about the Internet killing the newspaper business.
Perhaps, the biggest change from the original script to the final product that made it on screen was the ending. In the original script, Peter quits being Spider-Man for a couple of months, just like in the film. However, in a big twist, Peter’s father Richard Parker returns. Richard tells Peter that he’s been watching him for years, and he knows Peter is Spider-Man. Richard actually convinces Peter to become Spider-Man again, and he tells Peter the classic line, “With great power comes great responsibility.”
