Before director James Wan tackles Jason Momoa’s Aquaman solo film, he is returning to The Conjuring franchise to serve up another horrifying tale involving world renowned paranormal investigators Ed (Patrick Wilson) and Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga). This time the Warrens will take on … The Enfield Poltergeist!

This “true” case involved a single mother and her four children from Enfield, England, who were abused by a nasty evil spirit from 1977 to 1979. Much of the attacks centered on the then 11 and 12-year-old sisters. There are claims that the poltergeist levitated the children, knocked repeatedly on the walls, made furniture move and other what not. The case got plenty of media coverage from British tabloids, and in turn, lead to the Warrens heading across the pond to assist. Their professional opinion? The children were the subject of demonic possession.

Keep in mind, a lot of the claims are disputed. Several other “experts” witnessed the children bending spoons and other acts to make it seem like a ghost had done the deed. Also, one of the children claimed to be possessed by a previous occupant, and even convincingly sounded like the grumpy old man, however, no one was allowed in the room when these possessions took place. There was almost always a recording device nearby, though!

On Monday, Wan shared a snap of the fog-covered set to celebrate the beginning of filming on the sequel. “First day of principal photography. Fogbound backyard inside soundstage,” Wan wrote on Instagram. Wan even took precautions to ward off any evil entities. “Yes, we actually had a priest to bless our set on the first day of shooting Conjuring 2!!,” he shared.
