The DC/Marvel Movie Crossovers We Want To See

With double-doses of Justice League and Avengers films on the horizon, you’ll excuse us for thinking that we’ve heard all there is to hear about comic book movies. The threshold, it seems, has been met. Or has it? If there was one final frontier in comic book movie surprises, it would surely be the comic book movie crossover, uniting DC and Marvel’s Universe of characters into a mind-melting spectacle of action and Easter eggs. And while a full-blown Avengers/Justice League crossover may happen near the end of our lifetimes, here are a few smaller crossovers between the Big Two that we’d love to see. They may not be the obvious showstoppers you’d immediately think of, but each crossover would send their respective characters into intriguing, with hopefully a laugh or two along the way.

Deadpool V. Harley Quinn

Just give us some test footage teaming comics’ mouthiest characters, and we’d be satisfied. That worked pretty well for Deadpoolย last time.ย Deadpoolย and Harley Quinn go together like rodeo clowns and dynamite, making for one of the loudest, zaniest, and awesome comic book movies in history. We’re not sure how the two could cross paths with one another, but a Spy Vs. Spy styled film of the two trying toย outlclassย one another (i.e. kill) would be like a live-action, R-rated episode ofย Looneyย Tunes. And who wouldn’t want to see that?

Batman and Wolverine

A team-up between DC andย Marvel’sย top-selling icons would practically be a license to print money. Unleashing comics’ hardest superheroes on the big screen would be nothing short of a love letter to gritty action film lovers. Served with ice cream. As the two would try to out-growl each other for two hours, we could see Batman appeal to Wolverine’s inner samurai, while Wolverine gives Batman to cut loose just a little bit. As long as Batman kept the red-headed Barbara Gordon out of Wolverine’s sight, it would be a match made in a seedy, graffiti-stained version of heaven.

Captain America and Superman

Both former comic book embodiments of American Patriotism, the cinematic interpretations of Captain America and Superman forged their personal definitions of truth, justice, and the American Way. It’d be interesting to see the two characters challenge eachย other’sย sense of idealism while discovering what the American Way mightย truly mean. Captain America could teach Henryย Cavill’sย still-fledgling Superman what it really means to be an inspiring leader, while Superman could show Cap that the establishment isn’t always an enemy you have to rebel against. But at the very least, Cap could make Superman fell a little better about that whole neck-snapping incident. War is war, after all.ย

Spider-Man And The Flash

Their power sets are vastly different from one another, but Spider-Man and The Flash could make for a very entertaining team-up. Both characters are major science geeks with a strong sense of humor, capable of keeping audiences glued to their seats with their dialogue alone. And each of their rogues galleries are equally comparable, giving an appropriate challenge no matter how the opposition was divided. Sinister Rogues, anyone?

Wonder Woman and Iron Man

Who better to put the womanizing, philandering, Tony Stark in his place than the princess of the Amazons? Beyond the inherent humor of watching class clown Iron Man bounce off the straight-laced Wonder Woman, a team-up between the two unlikely allies would fuel rich character development for both parties. Through Wonder Woman, Tony would broaden his horizons on science and the impossible, while also being just a little lessย sexest. And through Iron Man, Wonder Woman would have a front row seat for the biggestย curveballsย that Man’s world has to offer. But if that doesn’t sell, just imagine what could come out of Tony’s mouth if Wonder Woman placed her lasso of truth around him. Comic gold, that’s what.
