The first episode of Fox’s revival of The X-Files made is world premiere at the MIPCOM television trade fair in Cannes, France, on Tuesday night. How’d it go?
THR reports, “The audience packed into Cannes’ Grand Auditorium broke out in spontaneous applause multiple times.” The applauded the first appearances of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, the closing credits and show’s intro.

In fact, the intro received the big applause. Why? Because it was the sameEmmy Award-winning opening sequence that they used for theshow’s 1993 series premiere. With the same iconic music written and composed by Mark Snow. “We thought about doing some changes to the original credits, but then it seemed like like sacrilege,” series creator Chris Carter told the audience. Those credits were on 202 episodes. They belong on these next six.”

David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson reprise their iconic roles as Agent Fox Mulder and Agent Dana Scully in the upcoming event series which will encompass a mixture of stand-alone investigative episodes and those that further the original show’s seminal mythology. In the opening episode, Mulder and Scully take on a case of a possible alien abductee.
The X-Files has a two-night season premiere airing Sunday January 24, 2016 10-11pm ET/7-8pm PT (after NFC Championship Game) and Monday January 25, 2016 at 8pm.
