With Warner Bros dropping the final Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer Thursday morning, it was the most revealing yet, showing us how Batman can actually stand up to Superman in a fight. The trailer also gave us our first look at Wonder Woman leaping towards a fight, but the big thing was giving us more dialog to get ideas on how these incarnations of the characters work in this world.

It’s a lot to digest and while there was some overlap from previous trailers, there were still memorable bits of dialog that stuck with you til the end.

We’ve already talked about the memorable moments, so let’s talk about the top five lines from the trailer.

“I’ve known a few women like you.”

ย

I don’t think you have, Mr. Wayne. That amused face kind of proves it.ย

It’s good to see that Bruce retained some of this playboy attitude that Christian Bale had in Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as Michael Keaton never had a chance to take on that part of the character. Bruce might be a bit older here, but still possesses that irresistibleย charm…well..not completely irresistible. It’s uncertain if Bruce will have a love interest in the movie or if he’s forsook such notions to not have the responsibility of a relationship.

Gadotย as Diana’s reply? Priceless.ย

“Oh, I don’t think you’ve ever known a woman like me.”

ย

How cool was this?

It feels like we’ve been building up for this moment and it’s finally delivered. Inter cutย with Bruce’s attempts at flirting, Diana pretty much shuts him down playfully then cuts to her Wonder Woman persona, sword and shield in hand about to spring into the fire.ย

Obviously with this being Wonder Woman’s big screen debut, DC and Warnersย wanted to make it as big as possible and to see that in action made the wait worthwhile. It’s brief, but oh man, is it effective. This isn’t exactly the civilized debutante that Bruce thought she was garbed in a warrior’s armor, leaping into the unknown, and I personally can’t wait to see more.ย

This is also the first time we’ve hear Gal Gadot’sย voice as Diana. She is using her natural accent, which makes perfect sense for Wonder Woman to have.ย

ย

ย

“If we believe there is even a 1% chance he is our enemy, we have to take it as an absolute certainty.”

ย

This line right here personifies Bruce Wayne not only as a master tactician, but as somebody who wants to make sure Metropolis’ fate isn’t repeated again.ย

While technically this line didn’t debut in the trailer, it really strikes home that Bruce is out to protect his city from whatever, be it crazed clown or demi-god. He’s seen Superman’s power in person and is already afraid for the world and Gotham City of his presence.ย

Bruce takes it upon himself to prove to the world that Superman is a threat by taking him head on.ย

“I’m getting slow in my old age, Alfred.”

We’ve known that Ben Affleck’sย Batman has donned the cape and cowl for some time now. He’s more grizzledย and worn than what we’ve seen before in other Bat-flicks. It’s unsure if Bruce ever took time off of being Batman in this universe, but having Bruce actually say this line gives us more of an idea of where he is in his career.ย

He’s tired, weighed down by the burden he takes on by himself. Does Superman’s arrival spark something in him that makes him want to be Batman once more? His he debating retirement? Maybe Bruce is figuring out why he still wears the batsuit.ย

Whatever the case may be, this is a Bruce Wayne we’ve yet to see make it to the screen.ย

ย

“Even you got too old to die young…not for lack of trying.”

ย

If Bruce has been doing this for 20 or so years, imagine how old Alfred must feel. He’s been the father figure and guiding light for Bruce through his trauma and helped him become this force of nature that he is.ย

Alfred has probably seen some stuff that he’ll take to his grave. Bruce has probably gotten the snot kicked out of him more than a handful of times, and Alfred has always been to there to make sure his “son” comes out alive so he can continue to fight the good fight.ย

This line is both humorous and sad at the same time. Alfred tries to keep positive, but knows there’s the possibility that Bruce might not come back one night and that idea hangs over him.ย
