Fans of Green Arrow comics have been excited to see ’90s Green Arrow Connor Hawke come to the small screen, ever since it was first announced that he would be cast on DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.
The character, though, is not exactly the same guy we know from the comics. In the earliest announcements about the character, producers made it clear that he would not be the son of Oliver Queen and Sandra Moonday Hawke,” as he was in the comics, but a new character created for TV who used Connor’s name.
When photographs of the character started to circulate, there were two main reactions: fans who were impressed by how faithfully his costume had been adapted from the comics — much more so than most of the other superheroes in primetime — and those who started to speculate who his parents might be.
The main guess — and the one which turned out to be right? John Diggle is Connor’s father, which means presumably that the boy’s mother is Lyla Michaels, although that’s not made expressly clear in the episode.
In the potential future of “Star City 2046,” Connor Hawke is the assumed name of John Diggle, Jr., whose father died when Grant Wilson — the son of Slade Wilson and heir to the Deathstroke name — led an uprising in Star City.
Again, remember — just in this one, potential timeline.
DC’s Legends of Tomorrow left that timeline, along with its versions of Connor, Deathstroke, and the rest, behind and will head on into the great unknown next week. It airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT and is the only DC Entertainment show on the schedule next week.
