Character Designer Nick Orsi has updated his official Tumblr page with early concept art he came up with for Disney‘s Zootopia, including Officer Judy Hopps, Nicholas P. “Nick” Wilde, Chief Bogo, Dawn Bellwether, Yax, and Leodore Lionheart.

“I design off of the script,” Orsi said while being interviewed by Matthew Cesca. “And then what usually happen is… You get notes from the director, and they kind of say what they like, what they don’t like, where they want you to take it. And once you’re done with that and they cast the actor in the role, usually the animators will go in and look at their acting and the subtleties in their facial features and things like that and work that into the character a little bit more. It changes the design a little bit, but it’s all towards the end result.”

Simmons as Mayor Leodore Lionheart, and Alan Tudyk as Weaselton.

The film was co-directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore and written by Phil Johnston.
