Despite their power, the Green Lanterns have suffered a good amount of embarrissing losses. No hero is perfect, and the history of the Green Lanterns show this as the entire team have had to deal with losing in extreme ways. This includes losses that were from a single punch in the face or simple slight of hand. The Green Lanterns can be a bit prideful, and that pride has led to them suffering humiliating defeats over the years.
7) Did Batman Beat Hal Jordan With a Yellow Brick?

The Green Lanterns have had some odd weaknesses since they were introduced in the Golden Age of comic books. Two of the most known vulnerabilities that the heroes had were wood and the color yellow. In Batman/Superman: World’s Finest #4, Batman makes a comment on being able to stop a Green Lantern with a yellow brick. This implies that the Caped Crusader once beat Hal Jordan by throwing a brick at him. This would be a humiliating way for a Green Lantern to be defeated, especially when one considers how powerful the Lanterns are.
6) Batman Steals Hal Jordan’s Ring

The source of a Green Lantern’s power is the ring that they wear. Considering how important the ring is to the galactic heroes, one would assume that they do their best in order to protect it. Despite this, Hal Jordan has lost his ring to Batman rather easily. In Justice League #1, which debuted as a part of the New 52 revamp, readers see Hal Jordan and Batman having a conversation. During their talk, the Caped Crusader easily swipes the ring off of the Green Lantern’s finger. It is a bit embarrissing to lose something that precious so quickly, especially since Hal did not even notice that the ring was stolen at first.
5) Superman Gets a Piece

A number of different characters have humiliated various Green Lanterns over the years, including the Man of Steel. In Dceased: War of the Undead Gods #4, the Guardian Ganthet tries to detain Superman. This does not go well for the Guardian, as Superman punches him directly in the face, taking him down in one blow. It is an embarrassing display that show that no one should mess with the Man of Steel as he will quickly put anyone who messes with him on the floor.
4) Death by Ice

Guy Gardner has been put down in more ways than one. In The Human Target #6, the Green Lantern dies from a punch in the face. Guy attacks the Human Target and the Lantern’s love interest Ice. However, Ice ends up freezing the Green Lantern during the confrontation. This leads to the Human Target punching Guy in the face, shattering him. This action parallels the time that Batman punched the Green Lantern in the face, putting him down in one blow. This is quite the humiliating loss as it was so quick and was finished in one instant blow.
3) Guy Gardner Loses His Clothes

During the Emerald Twilight storyline, fans see Hal Jordan become possessed by Parallax. In an attempt to stop him, Guy Gardner faces Hal only to be utterly humiliated. At the end of the fight, Hal hits Guy hard enough to destroy his power ring. This causes the hero’s clothes to disintegrate, leaving him in nothing but his underwear. It is one of the most embarrassing losses for a Green Lantern, as Guy literally had the pants slapped off of him.
2) Weak to Wood

Many of the most powerful superheroes in comic books have some kind of weakness in order to help balance out their powers. Superman is weak against kryptonite, Aquaman cannot be out of water for too long, and Wonder Woman was weak against being shackled by a man. The Green Lanterns were weak against wood. This had led to some embarrassing losses for Alan Scott, the first Green Lantern. It is one of the worst ways that a superhero can lose as the Lantern’s weakness was exploited so easily.
1) Batman Punches Guy Gardner

Guy Gardner is known for being a bit obnoxious. While he has the power to backup the attitude, it has gotten the Green Lantern put on the floor. In Justice League #5, Guy is being a bit of a jerk, which eventually puts him toe-to-toe with Batman. However, the confrontation is a very short one. Comic book fans see Batman put Guy on the floor in just one punch, all to the amazement of the rest of the Justice League. It was a quick and humiliating defeat, and shows that no one should mess with Batman.
