The DC Cinematic Universe has come a long way in a short amount of time, but even with the building of the Justice League and the Suicide Squad, there are still many roles to fill for future films.

Compiled before you is a list of some of the most anticipated characters from all walks of the DC Universe and they’ve been combined with who should play them on the silver screen. Each character can go in a variety of different directions to be sure, but these are all based on versions closer to their comic origins.

As with any fan casting, these are all subjective, but if you have any suggestions make sure to leave them in the comments!

Blue Beetle

Beetle Boneta

The role of Jamie Reyes is one that requires an actor to maintain a sense of confidence even amongst a spiraling chaos that they don’t understand.

Actor Diego Boneta has that unique ability, which he displayed in spades during his time on FOX’s Scream Queens as Pete Martinez. He’s innately likable and can give the impression that he knows what he’s doing even when has no clue, something that occurs quite often when you’re talking about the ancient beetleย scarab.

Catwoman

Catwoman Gemma

While the role of Catwoman was deftly played in The Dark Knight Rises by Anne Hathaway (who has expressed interest in returning to the role), the studio will most likely recast the part if and when the character makes her debut in theirย updated universe.

Gemma Arterton is more than experiencedย with action sequences, as seen in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Hansel and Gretel, but it’s her charm and expressiveness that makes her a great candidate to play Selina Kyle.

Guy Gardner

Glen Powell Guy Gardner

For those who know Guy Gardner, you know he’s the baseball bat of the Green Lantern Corps. He’s a blunt instrument,ย and while he isn’t the most elegant of solutions to a problem, he gets the job done.

He’s a firecracker in human form, and balance would be handled quite easily by Glen Powell (Scream Queens, The Expendables 3). Powell has a knack for comedy, and he would be completely at home with a character like Gardner. He has the confidentย stature and snarky witticisms to pull it off but knows how to make himself the butt of the joke when the need arises.

Green Arrow

Arrow Egerton

As much as fans would want current Arrow star Stephen Amell to reprise his role in the DC Cinematic Universe, that isn’t likely to happen, so a new actor needs to be found for the part.

Enter Taron Egerton, who brings a smart sense of humor to any role he’s in, and humor is an essential part of the character. He would also be quite believable as a young technology tycoon, and could be an interesting play against Ben Affleck’s older Bruce Wayne.

If that wasn’t enough, he’ll actually be playing the role of Robin Hood in the upcoming Robin Hood: Origins, and if he can play Robin Hood himself, he can play a superhero modeled after him.ย

Black Canary

Black Canary Tuppence

The DC Universe will need its Black Canary, a fierce martial artist who can still be tender when the situation calls for it.

Actress Tuppence Middleton could work wonders with that premise, and has the acting ability to bring so much more to the role. She’s starred inย a variety of genres with films like MI-5, The Imitation Game, and Trance, along with her performance in Sense8, and brings a sense of credibility to any role she’s in.

Seeing her interact with Edgerton’s Green Arrowย should also provide some wonderful scenes.

Hal Jordan

Hammer Hal Jordan

The Green Lantern Corps film is still a ways off, but somewhere in Warner Bros. Headquarters there is already discussion occurring about who should play the role of iconic Green Lantern Hal Jordan.

Take the rest of the day off executives, because I’ve solved your problem. The part of Hal Jordan would be perfectly cared for in the hands of actorย Armie Hammer. Hammer hasn’t had the launch to stardom that some predicted,ย but that is more to do with the films themselves rather than his part in them, or in The Man from U.N.C.L.E’s case, just a lack of audience.

Hammer contains the at times cocky but always determined demeanor that defines Hal Jordan, and it could prove to be a fantastic vehicle for the star. Just make sure the costume isn’t CGI this time.

Black Manta

Elba Manta

Rumors of Black Manta’s casting have been floating around for awhile now, but so far nothing has been confirmed, which leaves the roster spot open for the moment.

In an ideal world, Black Manta would be played by Idris Elba, though at the moment he is currently contractually obligated to Marvel. Still, that can change, especially now that the actor is currently shooting Thor: Ragnarok,ย and after that Thor plans are somewhatย up in the air.

If he did decide to exit, the actor could bring a true sense of gravitas and fierceness to the role, and seeing him play opposite of Jason Momoa’s Aquaman could beย insanely epic.ย

Poison Ivy

Watson Poison Ivy

The character of Poison Ivy demands an actress who can radiate regalness with nothing but a glance, and Emma Watson seems to have mastered that art.

On top of that,ย Watson can also be flirty when the need arises, but always in a coy-like fashion, maintainingย a slightly mysterious aura about her character. Poison Ivy is the same, only revealing her compassion to her plants and closest friends, which includes the lovable Harley Quinn.ย

Seeing Watson and Margot Robbie on screen together would just be too promising to pass up.

Kilowog

Freddie Prinz Kilowog

As in the previous Green Lantern film, everyone’s favorite drill sergeant Kilowog will likely be computer generated, so you’ll need a strong voice to ground the character and make him imposing.

Freddie Prinze Jr. is the perfect fit for the lovable Lantern and anyone who’s heard his astounding vocal performance in Dragon Age Inquisition as the Iron Bull would know why. He’s formidable, confident, weathered, and derives joy from his actions on the battlefield, all things that are conveyed simply by speaking, and those are elements that would greatly benefit Kilowog’s return to the silver screen.

The Question

Lee Pace Question

The Question is a character that requires an actor who can turn in a strong performance without relying on their facial expressions, where the way one saunters across the room or quirkily delivers a line is as important as anything they might express through their eyes or facial movements.

Actor Lee Pace can handle that role, and he’s displayed a frantic tenacity in previous roles. He has an indefinable swagger and put a blue trenchcoat on him and a hat and it would be hard to see anyoneย else in the role.
