Teen Titans GO! is a deceptively witty and clever kids show, one that takes the DC superhero world and turns it on its head. Aside from poking fun at superhero lore and pretty much everything else in pop-culture, Teen Titans is also good at incorporating movie and TV references and jokes into the mix.

A TTG! fans recently got a kick out of some Easter eggs he spotted in an episode – little references that nonetheless have some big fun with two big DC movies: Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

As you can see above, the visual gags/Easter eggs are aimed at General Zod’s violent and controversial death by Superman’s hands at the end of Man of Steel, as well as some the absurdity of the lame subtitle that was “Dawn of Justice.” Both are easy targets to hit, as DC Comics and movie fans were in general agreement that both were problematic in their respective films.

For DC fans, Teen Titans Go! has a long tradition of milking a good laugh out of the odd parts and foibles of the DC Universe. From comic book to movie to other animated series, TTG!’s meta awareness makes it almost as fun for hardcore adult fans as it does young viewers. Check it out if you haven’t already!

Teen Titans GO! airs weeknights @ 6/5c on Cartoon Network.
