Justice League earned just $94 million in its opening weekend – falling short of studio projections, and well below early estimates and expectations for a milestone event film with some big headlining stars.
It’s not all bad news, as Justice League is already eyeing a $200 million haul in overseas markets, but domestically things look questionable. The Thanksgiving weekend will offer a different family-friendly film (Pixar’s highly-rated Coco), shrinking the second week prospects for Justice League even further. But for those looking for a simple and time-effecient blockbuster movie outing, there may be enough word-of-mouth push to give the film a respectable second week drop-off.
Meanwhile, in the background, the rally cry to see Zack Snyder’s full and complete version of the film has already begun…
Justice League is now in theaters; Aquaman arrives on December 21, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Wonder Woman 2 on November 1st, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020
