'Justice League's Henry Cavill Talks How Clark Kent Returning Will Be Explained

Over his appearances in the current DC cinematic universe, Superman has been through quite the ringer.

After dying during the events of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, both the Man of Steel and his alter ego Clark Kent were eulogized and mourned by those they affected. But after coming back to life in Justice League, the civilian side of his life is faced with a conundrum.

Superman actor Henry Cavill recently spoke with some fans at ACE Comic Con in Long Island, New York, where he was asked how Clark Kent's returned will be explained without blowing his cover.

"It's a tricky one," said Cavill. "The wonderful thing about movies is that it's a suspension of disbelief. We're talking about a guy who can fly, who can shoot lasers out of his eyes. And so there are ways of doing it but telling these stories, it's about your enjoyment. It's about my enjoyment. It's about enjoyment for the viewer.

"And so we can spend four hours of a movie explaining why and how Clark comes back. But is that what you want to see?"

The audience member who asked the question responded, "no," and Cavill said "No, that's right."

"If I had billions and billions and billions of dollars and I could make six movies a year all based on Superman, yeah, we would go through that," Cavill added, joking it would be just like Game of Thrones.

Cavill said the next movie would definitely address the topic but said ultimately it's a matter of making it something interesting for viewers to watch.

Justice League ended with Clark Kent returning to his family farm, which was previously foreclosed on. Helping Clark and his mother move back in to their home, Bruce Wayne reveals he got the home back by purchasing the bank that foreclosed on them.

Knowing that Clark made a friend with deep pockets and limitless resources like Bruce Wayne, and not to mention that Batman is partially responsible for the events that lead to his demise in the first place, it's not out of the realm of possibility that they could pull some mass deception and trick Kent's old co-workers at the Daily Planet.

Hopefully we'll see it happen in a future movie, but a follow up to Justice League or Man of Steel have yet to be announced.

Justice League is now playing in theaters.
