The Flash's Carlos Valdes and Keiynan Lonsdale Talk The Latest Wells Bombshell

Spoilers ahead for "Monster," tonight's episode of The Flash.

Can the cast of The Flash trust the "con man" H.R. Wells?

Well, yes and no. While he's not a supervillain or anything, audiences did learn tonight that the most recent multiversal iteration of Harrison Wells is not in fact a scientist, but a novelist who managed to crack the code sent out into the breach and offer himself up as the latest Wells to assist Team Flash.

Before the episode aired, The Flash actors Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramon) and Keiynan Lonsdale talked about the twist with reporters on a visit to the set of The Flash, emphasizing the way it changes their relationship with Wells from previous seasons.

"It's certainly going to give Tom Cavanagh a lot of playtime and has given him a lot of playtime so far," Valdes said. "I think viewers can expect a lot of H.R.'s business and backstory to be rooted in some of his writing -- specifically the narrative that he's tackling will reveal itself over coming episodes."

"It's not a Wells that maybe we can count on all the time," added Lonsdale.

It also changes the relationship between Cisco and Wells, providing a different power dynamic now that Cisco is going to be H.R.'s intellectual superior in the lab. That means that the relationship between Valdes's character and Cavanagh's -- which was almost familial in the first season and then cold and competitive in the second -- is changing once again.

"This has been a really interesting dynamic to explore with Tom," said Valdes. "I've found that regardless of which character he's playing, Tom seems to fit right into it really seamlessly, and that has been wonderful to work with. It's like being given a different tool in your toolbox. I think the dynamic with H.R. is going to be interesting. It's going to be fun, for sure."

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
