With the Justice Society of American joining DC’s Legends of Tomorrow this season, the size of the cast — and the number of superheroes — is bound to swell.

We’ve already seen that they’re planning to bring Star-Girl, Dr. Mid-Nite, and Obsidian along…but who else might show up? And who would we want to see?

Well, we have some ideas…!

Have you seen Suicide Squad yet? Want to win a Hot Toys Joker figure from the movie? All you have to do head on over to ComicBook.com’s Movie Database or click the image above and rate the movie to enter! A winner will be chosen August 19th, 2016!

THE SPECTRE

Since we’ve already seen Matt Ryan’s John Constantine, why not Emmett J. Scanlan’s Jim Corrigan, The Spectre?

The actor, also recognizable to comic book fans from his screen time in Guardians of the Galaxy, did a great job in his few Constantine appearances, and of course the character of The Spectre has a long-standing connection to the Justice Society of America.

With Damien Darhk involved with the season, who better to fight a powerful, death-fueled magic than one of the DC Universe’s most powerful supernatural characters — who also happens to be a personification of divine wrath, and thus able to manipulate death energy better than just about anyone?

WESLEY DODDS

Even if we couldn’t see the Golden Age Sandman playing a significant role onscreen, getting him in the role that’s been his lot for the last twenty years or so — as a significant death that kickstarts the action, like he was in Kingdom Come and at the beginning of Geoff Johns and David Goyer’s JSA series — would be a nice nod to the comics and to his importance to the history of the Justice Society.

(That’s not too dissimilar to the small role he played in Smallville, either.)

JACK KNIGHT

Look, if I had my way, James Robinson’s Starman would be an HBO series all its own.

That’s not how things are going right now, but a handful of characters with ties to Starman have appeared in The Flash, and even more in the The Flash: Season Zero comics that tied into the show’s first season.

With Stargirl on board, Jack probably wouldn’t be Starman…but even if he were just a retired guy who owned a junk store, the thrill of seeing an old friend like Jack Knight adapted to live action would be pretty great.

LIRI LEE

The Linear Woman version of Liri Lee — long one of the Linear Men alongside Rip Hunter, Matthew Ryder and Waverider in the comics — could be a pretty great addition to the cast, and a good one-on-one adversary for Rip.

In the comics, the four were a team whose job was to keep time from being broken, until Rip disagreed with the others and, after apparently imprisoning them underground at Vanishing Point, started up a new group of Time Masters with Booster Gold.

When the Linear Men finally got freed, they were…understandably peeved…with Rip, in Time Masters: Vanishing Point (pictured above).

THE RAY

With his own series coming soon to CW Seed, this seems like a pretty obvious choice. Could we see the Freedom Fighters — and if we do, will they be the “New Earth” version from the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths DCU, or would they be transplants from an Earth where the Nazis won World War II?

Either way, I’m up for some crossover between Legends and The Ray, especially since Vixen will obviously have some pretty strong ties to the show.

FIREHAWK

In a show that heavily features Firestorm, it’s kind of surprising that nobody much talks about how cool it would be to see Firehawk show up, actually.

Maybe just because she’s redundant, but that didn’t stop people from missing Hawkman when he was “dead” during the first season of Legends.

It would be kind of cool to see a career public servant pop up, maybe in a supporting role to the JSA, and turn out later to have been the JSA’s representative to the Firestorm Matrix the whole time.

HOURMAN

Just about every crossover has titles that spin out of it, and most of them are gone pretty fast and mourned by no one. That makes this title (as well as one more further on down the list) something of a departure from the norm in that it spun out of Grant Morrison’s DC One Million event (who would know that Morrison and Morales would work together again on reinventing Superman a decade or so later?) and turned out to be one of the best comics on the stands at the time.

Following the adventures of the “Android Hourman” from the 853rd Century and former Justice League of America “mascot” Snapper Carr, the book was everything that a Red Tornado comic should be but never truly reaches, in terms of exploring the idea of a robot with a soul. It also had a great supporting cast and an ever-escalating series of strange plot events that helped it transcend the challenge of having few real villains.

So having him as a minor character in an ensemble superhero show wouldn’t capture the magic of the comic itself…but I’d still love to see Tyler show up.

POWER GIRL

What would be better than Jay Garrick’s Earth-3 turning out to have a version of Supergirl who happens to be basically Power Girl?

Not much. Let’s do it, if Melissa Benoist can somehow find a hole in her schedule.

IRON MUNRO

Introduced in Jerry Ordway’s Justice Society spinoff Infinity, Inc., Iron Munro is the son of Hugo Danner, the lead character in Gladiator, a novel said to be one of the inspirations for Superman.

He’s also the grandfather of Al Pratt and Kate Spencer, Atom-Smasher and Manhunter, respectively.

What’s more? He’s been used as a “fill-in character” for Superman over the years, so he’s got a great power set and is a hugely inspirational character in his own right.

MONARCH

One of the most dangerous time-traveling baddies in DC history, could we see Monarch, the villain behind Armageddon 2001 and (after a few transformations) portions of Zero Hour: A Crisis in Time?

At one point, I even thought he might be the Season 2 big bad.

I’d be all for it, although obviously his complex backstory and the fact that he burns off a potential superhero in the form of the corrupted Hank Hall might make it hard to do without drawing the kind of ire that The Flash got from fans when they revealed that “Jay Garrick” was Zoom last season.
