While Aquaman is often linked to the kingdom of Atlantis, that is not the location synonymous with his surface side.

That would be Amnesty Bay, where a cabin lays attached to a lighthouse. This is of significant meaning to Arthur, and photos have surfaced showing Warner Bros. building their own version of it for the upcoming Aquaman film.

The photos show the lighthouse in construction at Hastings Point, a location that director James Wan obtained clearance to shoot at from the Tweed Shire Council (via Gold Coast Bulletin). The crew is expected to be there for eight weeks setting it up, with Wan and the cast filming there for three days.

As to why it’s important, Amnesty Bay is the home of Tom Curry, Arthur’s Father. It also happens to be where Tom first met Atlanta, the Atlantean royalty that washed up on shore. Together they produced Arthur, and the Lighthouse has always been Aquaman’s home away from Atlantis when he’s not running his kingdom.

Wonder Woman is in theaters now, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017; Aquaman on July 27, 2018; Shazam on April 5, 2019; Justice League 2 on June 14, 2019; Cyborg on April 3, 2020; and Green Lantern Corps on July 24, 2020. The Flash, The Batman, Dark Universe and Man of Steel 2 are currently without a release dates.
