Taking to Instagram, the Aquaman star shared a few behind-the-scenes photos about him getting ready for the movie. The actor, who was cast as Arthur Curry, posted a picture of him taking a mirror selfie in his trailer.

“Day 1 get tatted and kick some ass,” Momoa wrote. “All my aloha to my crew and cast. Safe journey. Ready for this adventure. Cheeeeeehooooooooo aloha Arthur”

Then, in another photo, Momoa took a picture of himself with one of the film’s crew members.

“Me and Jen I love working with amazing artists. From our wardrobe to set design. From stunts to makeup. Truly an honor I’m a very lucky man. Aloha Arthur,” the actor captioned the second image.

In the first image, fans can see that Momoa has been tatted up with familiar-looking ink. And, in the latter photo, the star can be seen posing with Jeanette Benzie. The casting director worked closely with Momoa to ensure he snagged the coveted DC Comics role, and fans have gushed over Momoa’s addition to the DCEU since news broke about his casting.

An icon for over 70 years, Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas. This reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, is committed to protecting the entire globe.

The film is based on characters appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment and will star Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) as the sea-dwelling superhero, Amber Heard (Machete Kills) as Mera, Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) as Atlantean politician Vulko, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, and Temuera Morrison as Aquaman’s father. It’s being directed by James Wan (Furious Seven, The Conjuring), written by Will Beall (Gangster Squad), and produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder.
