The studio showed off an early prototype of their new board game at this year’s Game Festival in Canne, and it centers around Gotham’s protector Batman. They showed off their demo space on Facebook, and later on posted a few more photos of people trying out an early copy of the game (via BeastsofWar).

The game will use the Conan engine so to speak with a Batman skin. Conan is built on various scenarios that you setup for 2 to 5 players. Players can take control over Conan and any number of his allies as they battle against one player who takes the role of Overlord. This player controls the evil hordes on the board. Players will have to work together to overcome his legion of enemies and win the scenario.

This will likely be the case with Batman as well, with the Overlord player having control over enemies like Scarecrow, Bane, The Joker, Clayface, and other Batman rogues. Thanks to Bawon Samdi, who attended the show, fans now have a closer look at what the miniatures will look like. As you can see in the gallery, they’re looking fantastic so far, especially that Scarecrow and Clayface.

No word yet on when this game will go up on Kickstarter, but it should be soon. If you want to get a look at how the game will play, you can check out the rules to Conan here to get an idea.

This is the second recent DC tabletop announcement, as there will also be a Justice League cooperative board game coming later this year, not to mention the ongoing Batman Miniatures Game from Knights Models. If you’re a DC fan, it’s not a bad time to love tabletop.
