Supergirl’s season finale started off with a bang this week as the Girl of Steel faces off against Non and his army of Myriad-controlled drones. Joined by a few surprising allies, Supergirl squares off against her uncle with the fate of National City and the world on the balance. With a cameo appearance by one of DC’s biggest superheroes, “Myriad” was filled with plenty of twists and surprises. Here’s five of the most shocking moments from this week’s episode:
The DEO Is Compromised
Supergirl won’t be getting help from the DEO. In the opening moments of tonight’s episode, Non orders a Myriad-controlled Lucy Lane to free all of the DEO’s prisoners, save for the White Martian. ย One of those prisoners is Maxima (guest star Eve Torres), who isn’t a Fort Rozz prisoner but agrees to go along with Non’s plan in exchange for her freedom. ย Luckily, Supergirlย arrives just in time toย beat up Maximaย and stop the DEOย from adding their prisoners to Non’sย growing army, but not before she takes a kryptoniteย bullet in the arm courtesy of Lucy Lane.ย

Superman?!
With a threat as big of Myriad, it would make sense that Supergirlย would ask her cousin for help. ย Although Superman was off planet for Myriad’s initialization, he texts Kara to let her know he’s on his way to National City. While Karaย gets a glimpse of the Man of Steel flying in to save the day, she’s horrified to see him abruptly land and join the Non-controlled masses. As Maxwell Lord explains a little while later, Superman’s brain is a little more susceptible to Myriad because of his prolonged time spent on Earth. As he puts it, Superman was brought to his knees by going to school and watching Sesame Street. ย
Non Does Not Mess Around
Like every good supervillain, Non can’t help but give a full blown monologue to Supergirl, Cat and Max Lord explaining his plans for Myriad. ย Non used Myriad to transform into a literal think tank, harnessingย the full brain power of the population to solve the world’s problems. ย Although Supergirlย begins to argue with Non, her uncle warns her to stay out of his way. To prove a point, he orders Jimmy, Winn and one of Kara’s other co-workers to jump off the balcony at CatCo. ย Supergirlย quickly saves Jimmy and Winn, but she doesn’t have enough arms to catch the other co-worker before she falls to her death. ย His point made, Non warns Supergirlย to stay out of his way.ย
J’onn Vs. Indigo
While Kara told her sister and J’onnย to stay away from National City, the two decide to abandon their mission to rescue Jeremiah Danversย from Cadmus in order to help Supergirlย save National City. ย Unfortunately, the two are met with a rude welcoming committee in the form of Non’s sadistic lieutenant Indigo. While at a disadvantage due to Myriad’sย frequency, J’onnย still puts up one heck of a fight and even tosses her into an exploding shed. ย However, Indigoย ultimately wins the battle by stabbing J’onnย in the gut and leaves him bleeding on the ground as she drags Alex away to Non.
Danvers vs. Danvers
Thanks to a pep talk from Cat Grant, Supergirlย comes up with a plan to rescue National City from Myriad: they’ll use Cat’s broadcasting equipment to relay a message of hope to hijack Myriad’s signal. ย Although Cat, Max and Supergirlย make it to Cat’s first television station to set up their plan, Non sends a special messenger to snatch that hope away: Alex. ย Armed with the kryptonite sword that killed Astra and special body army, Non says that only one Danvers sister will survive the night. ย So which one will it be? ย We’ll have to wait until next week to find out!ย
