Being Bruce Wayne on Gotham is already demanding, but that’s nothing compared to what actor David Mazouz has to do between scenes.

Mazouz appeared at Heroes and Villains Fan Fest over the weekend, where he revealed that what appears on camera is only part of the story. Mazouz told fans “If we get a 10 or 20-minute break between scenes, I’ll have to run up to my school room and do chemistry and come back. it’s really tough.”

So next time you see Mazouz on screen with Selina Kyle, Oswald Cobblepot, or Alfred, just know he’s probably thinking of an algebra equation or chemistry exam while he’s shooting scenes. It’s an impressive feat to be sure, especially since he’s one of the main characters on the show.

That role is only going to increase as he continues to step towards his vigilante destiny. He revealed as much in an interview with ComicBook.com’s Brandon Davis.

“Bruce really is taking on this vigilante persona and all the things that go along with that. Whether it be creating another persona, a public persona, that’s also definitely going to be a major part of Bruce’s journey this year. His relationship as this other person. Batman is coming. Absolutely.”
