Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle took huge steps toward becoming their costumed alter egos and Jim Gordon suffered a devastating blow. But one of the most significant moments came with The Penguin‘s victory over the Riddler and some inspiring words from the dying breath of Fish Mooney.
Now show writer and executive producer John Stephens is unveiling some new details about the show’s return to FOX for its fourth season premiere.
The episode is titled “Pax Penguina,” with a script written by Stephens. The episode will be directed by executive producer Danny Cannon. Given the title, it seems like Gotham City’s troubles will begin anew as Oswald Cobblepot asserts control over the criminal underworld, but after the events of last season he’ll have to contend with yet another threat waiting in the shadows.

Bruce Wayne’s first step into the world of vigilantism was spurred on by none other than Ra’s Al Ghul, who has arrived in Gotham City with the League of Shadows.
Gotham has made itself out to be a crime series with some fantastic elements of the superhero genre, so we don’t expect the League of Shadows to be working alongside Penguin’s forces. We can’t wait to see the two empires vying for control of Gotham City in the new season, with Bruce and Gordon continuing down their trajectory of attempting to save the city from itself.
Gotham returns this fall. The third season hits Blu-ray and DVD August 29. The synopsis for the Season 3 Finale is below.
DESTINY AWAITS – With the deadly virus spreading throughout the city, the search for the antidote continues, as Fish Mooney (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith), The Riddler and Penguin reveal plans of their own. Bruce meets Ra’s Al Ghul (guest star Alexander Siddig) and completes his last task in order to fulfill his destiny, but realizes he can’t let go of his past. Meanwhile, Gordon tries to win back Lee, and past alliances within Gotham City are broken, while new alliances are formed.
