In the first season finale of Gotham, Oswald Cobblepot/The Penguin (played by Robin Lord Taylor) has a brutal rooftop fight with his former boss Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith), and it swings in his favor when he orders a brainwashed Butch Gilzean (Drew Powell), Fish’s former right-hand man, to shoot her. Butch does, but he quickly apologizes. Fish forgives him, but during the sweet moment, Penguin knocks Butch to the ground with a piece of wood and tosses Fish off the rooftop and into the water below.

In Season 2, we discovered that Fish was revived, with all of her memories intact, and experimented on at Indian Hill by Dr. Hugo Strange, infusing her with cuttlefish DNA. Fish now has the power to control people when she makes physical contact with them. Though she only briefly encountered Penguin in the season finale, knocking him out by touching his face, you can bet she will seek to destroy her former lackey.

“She definitely has a huge impact on Penguin,” executive producer Ken Woodruff told EW. “She’s a really powerful person in this world, and Indian Hill only accentuated that. Her time in Indian Hill gave her this ability to exert control over people and for her. She couldn’t ask for a better power. She’s going to stir things up and cause some real problems for everyone involved.”

With Season Two’s thrilling conclusion, Detectives Jim Gordon and Harvey Bullock remain at the forefront of the fight against crime in this dangerously corrupt city. Throughout the past season, Gordon’s moral compass wavered more than ever, as villains emerged from the city’s darkest places. With the help of Hugo Strange (guest star BD Wong), a brilliant psychiatrist secretly conducting horrifying experiments for Wayne Enterprises’ black-ops program, Indian Hill, familiar faces arose, including Azrael, formerly Theo Galavan (James Frain); Mr. Freeze (guest star Nathan Darrow); and Fish Mooney (guest star Jada Pinkett Smith). Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne, with the help of his trusted butler and mentor, Alfred Pennyworth, and his ally at Wayne Enterprises, Lucius Fox, found out there are more secrets to uncover regarding the Waynes’ murders.

Heading into Season Three, GOTHAM will continue to follow the evolving stories of the city’s most malevolent villains: The Penguin; Edward Nygma/The Riddler; Selina Kyle/the future Catwoman; and Barbara Kean. GOTHAM also will dive into the origin stories of The Mad Hatter and the Tweed Brothers, and will peel back the curtain on the Court of Owls.

Season 3 of Gotham will premiere on Monday, September 19th at 8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT.
