One of the biggest critiques of the superhero genre of films is the lack of female leads. Traditional Hollywood thinking has been that girls will go see movies about male heroes, but that boys won’t turn out for a film about a female hero.

DC Films is about to challenge that assumption with Wonder Woman, the first solo movie for the female member of DC Comics’ classic superhero trinity.
Wonder Woman has stood up to gods and monster and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Batman, Superman and the rest of the Justice League, but her biggest challenge may be drawing a large enough male audience to justify a sequel.
During a visit to the set of Wonder Woman, star Gal Gadot revealed how she would go about selling Wonder Woman to boys. “This is a truly universal story,” she says. “It’s such a universal story. It’s a beautiful story about a beautiful soul trying to save the world and doing battle and she doesn’t know much about what she’s getting into. She’s very naïve, but the love of her life is educating her and showing her, in a very sophisticated way, he shows her the reality that she got into. It’s just a beautiful love story about a girl who’s growing up.”
In other words, Wonder Woman has a great story that should appeal to everyone, so let it sell itself.
