After obtaining the Spear of Destiny, the Legion of Doom rewrites reality, leaving the Legends changed, perhaps forever. Frightfully, the Legends' and the world's hopes rest with Rory (Dominic Purcell), but being the "hero" is not easy for him. Meanwhile, there is tension within the Legion of Doom and the reason why the Spear of Destiny needs to be destroyed is revealed.
Victor Garber, Brandon Routh, Arthur Darvill, Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh, Nick Zano and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Mairzee Almas directed the episode written by Ray Utarnachitt & Sarah Hernandez.
Despite its name, "Doomworld" doesn't have anything to do with Doctor Doom. We fully expected to dig around through the DC Wiki and find some kind of lost reference, but it didn't happen. That said, the concept alone is pretty familiar to readers who have experience with anything from hard sci-fi time travel stories to the second volume of Booster Gold, where a villain can get enough power to essentially remake the world in their own image.
How could all of this come down to Rory? Well, the easy guess is that he manages to get taken in by the Legion of Doom, who believe he's genuinely a bad guy. Another possibility is that all of the messing with his mind that the Time Masters did when he was Chronos could pay some kind of unexpected dividend in making his history harder to rewrite.
In any event, it's not surprising that Rory would be the one to have to step up: all season long he's been surprising people in various ways, and those rumors from over the summer that Captain Cold would eventually join the Legion of Doom have yet to come to fruition...!
