Margot Robbie was pretty much up for anything during her time on Suicide Squad, and that included learning how to hold her breath longer than she ever thought she could.

At some point in Suicide Squad, Harley ends up underwater, presumably the part seen in the trailer where Batman dives in after her. For this sequence, she had to learn the skill of holding one’s breath for a long period of time, and she described the process to Jimmy Fallon during her segment on the Tonight Show.
“I had to learn how to hold my breath underwater for a really long time. So I worked with this amazing like Free Diver and he came in and I did four sessions with him. His name’s Kirk, and I called him Captain Kirk, and anyway’s he was really, it’s all about lowering your metabolic rate.”
“We did four sessions and pretty much once you start moving, obviously I had to be fighting underwater, you use up so much more oxygen and then you can’t stay under as long but I could do a resting breath hold of five minutes, which I never thought was possible. I thought well maybe I’ll aim for three.”
Robbie’s Harley Quinn is already incredibly popular, even before the Suicide Squad’s release on August 5th. Granted, I don’t see an “Underwater Breath Harley” action figure coming anytime soon, but you never know.
