DC Films has not been quiet about its ambitious slate of films, but one new rumor may prove how gun-ho the studio is. According to a report by Movie Hole, Shazam! will be affected somehow by Flashpoint.

The website shared a piece this week which lays out several details about Shazam! The film, which recently entered pre-production, is supposedly doing screentests for Billy Batson already. The film will have two actors playing its lead role thanks to its dual-natured hero. However, it looks like Barry Allen may also pop into the film or at least be referenced.
If Movie Hole’s exclusive is to be believed, then Flashpoint will mess with Shazam!
“Speaking of “The Flash”, it would seem the time-altering antics in his debut flick “Flashpoint” will have an effect on this one โ and other DC films โ but remains to be seen just how much,” the report suggests. “Fun idea to have the new crop of DC films find themselves slightly modified by the speedster’s actions.”
Considering the status of Shazam! and Flashpoint, it is very hard to tell how the two films could crossover. The Flash’s standalone was meant to debut in 2018, but those plans have since changed. The film’s loss of two directors pushed Flashpoint back, leaving the film to eye a 2020 premiere.
As for Shazam!, the movie is set to hit theaters before Flashpoint can race ahead of it. The film is slated to debut sometime in 2019, but the films’ debut order won’t matter if Flashpoint is really involved. After all, the film is centered around the idea of time travel.
If you are not familiar with the Flashpoint storyline, you should know it is one of DC Comics’ most famous runs. The story follows Barry Allen after the Flash makes a mess of time. The hero travels backwards in time to save his mom from dying, but the decision results in an altered timeline where many DC Universe’s heroes have significant changes made to them. In the comics, Billy Batson winds up being killed by Penthesilea, so Barry may pop into Shazam! to warn the boy much like the Flash did to Bruce Wayne in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
