The teachers at these schools are often heroes themselves, and their field experience lets them pass on invaluable skills and knowledge that helps their students succeed. The Teen Titans were founded by adolescent heroes whose education ranged from having significant guidance from their superhero mentors to having no training at all. And with so many Teen Titans members dying tragically young, it made sense that the team would eventually create a school for superpowered kids like them. Located in Titans Tower, Teen Titans Academy had a staff that included many of the teamโ€™s most iconic members, like Nightwing, Starfire, Donna Troy, Cyborg, Beast Boy, and Raven. The school introduced plenty of new heroes including Chupacabra, Bratgirl, Stitch, Bolt, and Ashley Rayburn. More experienced students included iconic teen heroes like Shazam, Emiko Queen, Kid Flash, Jakeem Thunder, Crush, and Bunker. Unfortunately, Titans Academy shut down after only a year because it became a magnet for frequent attacks by villains. Red X constantly terrorized the school, and Deathstroke and the Secret Society of Supervillains demolished the building. Although it didnโ€™t last long, Titans Academy still introduced a new generation of teen heroes to the DC Universe.

4) Future Foundation

Mr. Fantastic may be best known as the leader of the Fantastic Four, but heโ€™s also the founder of the Future Foundation. Wanting to fix the worldโ€™s problems, Reed sought to create his own think-tank comprised of the worldโ€™s most brilliant prodigies. With help from the rest of the Fantastic Four, Reed would teach and work with these children to devise ways to build a better future for all of humanity. Even Dr. Doom visited the school as a guest lecturer. The Future Foundationโ€™s first class included Reedโ€™s children, Franklin and Valeria Richards; the android Dragon Man, a pre-teen clone of the Wizard named Bently 23; the former leader of Power Pack, Zero-G; and four evolved Moloids named Tong, Turg, Mik, and Korr. The young mutants Artie Maddicks and Leech would also attend the Future Foundation. Together, they would go on field trips across the multiverse and develop ingenious new inventions that change the world.

3) Legion Academy

In DC Comics, the 31st century is when the universe is protected by the adolescent crimefighters of the Legion of Superheroes. To train potential recruits, the Legion of Superheroes founded the Legion Academy. Kids from countless alien worlds come to Earth to apply to Legion Academy, hoping to hone their incredible powers and join the universeโ€™s greatest heroes. Unlike other superhero schools, Legion Academy also offers a curriculum for students who have no interest in becoming crimefighters. Overall, Legion Academy graduates include some of the Legion of Superheroes’ greatest members, like Timber Wolf, Dawnstar, Magnetic Kid, Chemical King, Tellus, Invisible Kid, and White Witch. The schoolโ€™s primary instructors are the Legionโ€™s reserve members Bouncing Boy, Duplicate Girl, and Wildfire, who ensure that their students have a safe place to flourish. Legion Academy is the most successful superhero school in DC Comics with each graduating year offering a new generation of incredible Legionnaires.

2) Avengers Academy

When the Avengers rescued a group of children who were subjected to cruel experiments by Norman Osborn, the Earthโ€™s Mightiest Heroes decided to help the teens understand their newfound abilities. They created a school called the Avengers Academy. Its headmaster was Hank Pym and its teachers included Tigra and Hawkeye. Some of the heroes in the first class were the radioactive Hazmat, the shapeshifting Reptil, the super-strong Mettle, the electric Striker, the skilled Finesse, and the ethereal Veil. These kids would learn the fundamentals of heroism, and many of them would become noble crimefighters. Over the years, countless other iconic young heroes would attend Avengers Academy including X-23, Lyra, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, Kid Juggernaut, Bloodline, White Tiger, Spider-Girl, and Aaron Fischer Captain America. What started as a way to help a small group of tortured kids come to terms with their new abilities, became a place where the Avengers trained their future recruits.

1) Xavierโ€™s School for Gifted Youngsters

Xavierโ€™s School for Gifted Youngsters isnโ€™t only the most iconic superhero school in comics, but it also started the trope. Repurposing his old home, Professor X founded his boarding school as a place where young mutants could safely learn to control their gifts and protect themselves from a world that hated them. Most of the X-Men roster is made up of the schoolโ€™s alums, with the first class including the iconic superheroes Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel. Many of these X-Men also have served as headmasters and teachers at the school. The property has everything the student body and X-Men need to learn, including classrooms and a training facility called the Danger Room. Of course, Xavierโ€™s School for Gifted Youngsters is also notorious for constantly being attacked and blown up by evil mutants and bigoted humans. Still, Xavierโ€™s School for Gifted Youngsters is the ultimate sanctuary and academy for mutants of all shapes and sizes.
