When it comes to superhero movies, a clear trend has emerged over the past year or so. Films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice pitted together iconic heroes, and Marvel Studios was quick debut their own showdown venture. Captain America: Civil War forced Iron Man to go against the First Avenger, and their teams were quick to draw blood. Soon, DC Entertainment will hit back with Justice League, but the summer showdown is not the only one the studio is courting.

No, according to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, there is another mash-up being eyed by DC and Warner Bros.

In a recent interview with Fandango, Johnson was asked about his involvement with the DC Extended Universe. The actor has been cast as Black Adam, a fan-favorite villain with a close connection to Shazam. It was there the actor shared his thoughts on who should play the DC hero opposite him, and Johnson even dropped a coy hint about his upcoming feud with Krypton’s most famous ex-pat.

“One fine day… that’s coming,” Johnson told Fandango about a Superman v Black Adam battle. “That’s in the cards.”

Last December, fans began buzzing about the superhero showdown when Johnson posted a photo on Instagram. The actor shared a picture of him celebrating Christmas and New Years with Henry Cavill, and his caption had fans reaching for their tinfoil hats.

“Today we drink like gentleman and come together as friends. We’re excited for what the future brings,” he wrote before adding a slew of hashtags. One of the additions was “DC Worlds Will Collide,” and fans were left to scratch their heads over the vague promise.

Now, it looks like those comic book diehards have some more fuel to add to their fan-cast showdown. If Johnson has anything to say about the future of the DCEU, then Black Adam and Superman will go head-to-head sooner rather than later.

As for Johnson’s role, Black Adam may get to face-off with Superman in a solo film. It has been reported that the actor will play the villain in a standalone feature, and Johnson said things are looking good for the project.

“It’s definitely going to happen, sure,” the actor said. “We’ve had great conversations with Geoff Johns and everyone over at DC. It’s an exciting time right now for everyone at DC because they are in a process now where they are building out [their DC universe] really nicely. We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can’t reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced.”

There’s no official synopsis for Shazam or Black Adam, but here’s what Johnson had to say about the latter project:

“One of the most powerful anti-heroes on the planet is coming. And he is coming in hot. Brace yourself for BLACK ADAM! It’s a new dawn.”

“Had a very cool and strategic meeting with the heads of DC about their entire universe. As a hard core DC fan, to get a real sense of the tonal shifts and developments coming in these future movies has me fired up. Something we, as DC fans have all been waiting for for a very long time. Hope, optimism & FUN. Even when talking about the the most ruthless villain/anti-hero of all time finally coming to life. Prepare yourselves DC Universe.”

DC and Warner Bros. have a full slate ahead, with Wonder Woman on deck for a June 2, 2017 release, followed by Justice League on November 17, 2017. The Batman is expected sometime in 2018, with The Flash debuting on March 23, 2018. Aquaman is set for October 5, 2018, and Nightwing’s solo feature is due sometime in 2019.
