Stephen Amell Says No Musical Crossover Between Arrow, Flash, & Supergirl

Now that Supergirl has joined Greg Berlanti's other DC Comics-based televisiones series — Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow — on The CW, we will see a big four-show crossover event. Perhaps, in time, we'll get a special musical crossover episode, especially since each show features actors with meta-human-like vocal chords.

“No. I’m out! I’m the first one. I get to draw the line, and I draw the line at musical,” Amell told MTV News while promoting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows. “They have to show me how they’re going to do this magical four-show crossover. It was hard enough when it was two shows and mixing in Legends a little bit. To make it four shows? I’m dumbfounded.”

Arrow fans have been voicing their displeasure with many of the choices the show has made over the past few seasons, but they need to remember that because Arrow was the first of the four shows on the air, it had to dramatically alter its storytelling in order to act as a springboard for The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow. Amell is hoping Season 5 will take the show back to its roots.

“I’ve been thinking a lot about this, and I think the writers have as well,” Amell said. “We had a discussion, and I said, ’Look man. Arrow was set up as a very specific thing, and it’s up to us to do what we do. And what we do, we do better than anyone else on TV.’ Part of the price of success is that we’ve had to introduce other shows. We can always get around new powers and people from other planets, but it is important that when all that dust settles that we are focusing on what we do well.”

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows opens nationwide today.
