After watching the film, it’s safe to say that plenty was added. There was a couple more Joker scenes, which everyone was dying to see, and a lot more interaction between the members of the squad.

These extra scenes helped with the film’s pacing, which had been bashed by multiple critics, and added extra layers to the relationships between the characters. There was also a few extra lines thrown in from time to time that didn’t make the original cut.

Extra Prison Break

After Harleen helped to break Joker out of Arkham, the theatrical cut of the film went directly to the villain brainwashing the doctor.ย

In the extended edition, Joker teases Harleen a little more before strapping her to the table.

He also takes this opportunity to show some disdain for the doctor. It was supposed to be assumed that the Clown Prince wasn’t too fond of Harley at first, but that point missed with some audience members. This added scene helped fans to understand that Joker really wasn’t all that into Quinn, and he was just using her to escape.

This added scene only brings less than a minute of extra footage, but it goes a long way in understanding the depth of their relationship.

Croc Throws Up

In the comics, Killer Croc is known to get a little motion sickness from time to time. In the Rebirth version of Suicide Squad, he vomits on a rocket ship in issue #2.

In this deleted scene, the same thing happens.

While the Squad is in the helicopter on the way to Midway City, Captain Boomerang asks if Croc is supposed to be “green like that”.

As if on queue, Croc bends over and vomits onto the floor. Harley holds her nose with her fingers, and tells everyone that this is a major party foul.

This scene didn’t add a lot to the film, but it was a nice nod to the comic character.

Joker And Harley Bike Scene

Speaking of Joker and Harley’s relationship, this scene depicting their motorcycle chase brought so much more to their broken love.

Many fans of the comics complained that Joker and Harley’s relationship wasn’t true to the source material, as the Joker seemed way more attached to Harley than he’s supposed to be.ย

In this scene, Joker makes it very clear that he isn’t interested in Harley. She is chasing him down on a motorcycle, and he insists she needs to leave.

After forcing him to pull over, Harley really shows how obsessed she is with him. She pleads with Joker to let her have a chance, shoots a truck driver who appraches them, and eventually pulls the gun on Joker himself.

One of the best lines of the film came from this exchange, when Harley asks Joker, “You’re more afraid of my heart, than you are of a gun?”

This scene is the most powerful of the added content, and is arguably the most emotional of the entire film. If anything should have been added to the theatrical cut, it was this scene.

Spread The Word

After Slipknot is killed, due to Boomerang’s terrible plan, Harley and the Captain decide to attack the soldiers in the future.

In the theatrical cut, the two decide the will spread the word, and the scene is over. In the extended edition, they split up and actually attempt to get the rest of the group in on the idea.

Diablo shuts the plan down, furthering his stance on non-violence. The humor in this scene is derived from Boomerang’s interaction with Killer Croc, where the beast decides to shove Boomerang into a pile of trash cans.

This causes a reaction from the entire group, but the captain plays it off well.

Additional Squad Talk/Rick and Deadshot

Some complained that there wasn’t enough relationship building between the members of the team, and their coming-together at the end of the film didn’t make a lot of sense.

In a very extended sequence, Harley spent some time speaking with a few different members of the squad. She talked to Croc about why he eats people, and further explored the background of Katana. This interaction led Katana to take her mask off, and provided a great moment for fans.

The extended film also saw more interaction between Rick Flagg and Deadshot, and teased a separate deal that the two had on the side. Flagg asked for Deadshot’s help in uniting the team, and he would guarantee time with his daughter in exchange.ย

This conversation went a long way in building the bond between the two characters.

Extended Bar Scene

In the trailers for the film, the bar scene showed Harley asking what all of the squad members wanted to drink. Most notably, Diablo requested water and Harley told him it was a good idea.

Fans were disappointed when the conversation didn’t make the final cut of the film, but the extended edition included the full scene.

This cut also included more dialogue from Diablo about his past, and made that scene even more emotionally moving.ย
