‘Supergirl’ Season 3 Premiere Photos Released

The CW has released their preview photos for “Girl of Steel”, the season 3 premiere of Supergirl.

The episode dives right in on the aftermath of Season 2’s finale – with Kara (Melissa Benoist) coping with the loss of Mon-El (Chris Wood) by fully focusing her energy on being Supergirl.

“The tone is definitely different this season.” Benoist revealed to ComicBook.com earlier this year. “Obviously things were not so great for Kara at the end of season 2, having to send Mon-El (Chris Wood) into we don’t know where. He went into a chasm in space. But it’s definitely going to affect her.”

The episode will also address Alex Danvers’ (Chyler Leigh) marriage proposal to Maggie (exiting guest star Floriana Lima), as well as the beginning of the evolution of Sam (Odette Anabele) into Supergirl villain Reign.

“It’s the start of another long season, and I think that lots of stories are going to unfold as we go on.” David Harewood, who plays J’onn J’onnz/Martian Manhunter, told ComicBook.com. “Season 3 picks up minutes later, just after Season 2 ended, so you don’t have this whole enormous leap you’re going to have to make. I think we’re all about to go on another season’s long crazy journey.”

The photos also show a new appearance of Alura (Erica Durance, taking over the role from Laura Benanti), in what appears to be some sort of dream sequence.
