At this point, it's all-too-apparent that Wonder Woman is a big hit for DC Films, as the movie has (as of writing this) grossed over $300 million at the worldwide box office, in its first week of release.
Now that debate over whether or not Wonder Woman can be successful, talk is inevitably turning toward how successful the film can be. As of the latest estimates and projections, Wonder Woman could potentially surpass Man of Steel to become the highest-grossing solo hero movie in the DCEU.
Below you'll find the worldwide box office grosses for all of the DCEU Movies:
- Man of Steel - $668 million
- Batman v Superman - $873 million
- Suicide Squad - $745 million
In a piece by Forbes examining Wonder Woman's current earnings pattern, the film is poised for a best-case scenario of somewhere in the $600 - 700 million range, which would position it to possibly top Marvel's best solo movie launch (Doctor Strange at $678 million) and/or top DC's biggest solo film launch (Man of Steel at $668 million).
A lot of where this goes depends on the word of mouth and repeat business that Wonder Woman needs to reach its goal of being the highest-grossing superhero solo film debut, ever. It would definitely be an ironic victory for a film, a star (Gal Gadot) and a director (Patty Jenkins) that very few fans believed in, initially.
