Who said that Nintendo wasn't going to be at E3 this year?! Nintendo sent out a press release today detailing its E3 plans, and it's going to have so much going on this year. While we already knew that Nintendo would be opting to put on a video presentation instead of a live stage presentation, but what we didn't know is what else Nintendo would be bringing to the table. As it turns out, quite a lot.

"Proceedings will be headlined by the first-ever opportunity to play the Super Mario Odyssey game," the presser reads, "Mario's upcoming sandbox-style adventure for the Nintendo Switch system, as well as other Nintendo Switch games. Additional activities at the annual show include a Nintendo Spotlight: E3 2017 video presentation announcing new details for Nintendo Switch games launching this year, the return of Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3, and tournaments for the ARMS and Splatoon 2 games live-streamed from the show floor." The Spotlight presentation, by the way, will take place June 13 at 9AM PT.

"Our various E3 activities will showcase the next steps for Nintendo Switch, from a summer of social competitive gaming to a holiday season highlighted by a milestone Mario adventure," said Reggie Fils-Aime, President and COO, Nintendo of America. "With Nintendo Treehouse: Live at E3, fans at home can watch in-depth gameplay of Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS games launching this year."

Nintendo will also be shining a bright spotlight on two of its more competitive games. The first international Splatoon 2 tournament will be taking place starting June 13 with the Splatoon 2World Inkling Invitational. Beginning on June 14 Nintendo will be hosting the ARMS Open Invitational. Both of those tournaments will be streamed live from the show floor and will show off how Nintendo IPs can thrive in the competitive gaming scene outside of Smash Bros.

It's going to be a big year for Nintendo. Apart from the major Nintendo Switch games that we're already aware of, we just know that Nintendo is going to take this opportunity to announce some bombshell titles that have yet to be officially unveiled. In fact, we keep hearing rumors about Pokemon Stars coming to the Switch, but we still haven't seen it. We think E3 would be the perfect opportunity to show it off to the world, but that's just us.
