Pokemon Go‘s next event is coming early next week. The popular mobile game officially announced a new event to celebrate the start of summer in the Northern Hemisphere and the start of winter in the Southern Hemisphere. Beginning June 13, players will have the opportunity to catch more Fire and Ice-Type Pokemon to celebrate the upcoming solstice.
We previously revealed the “Fire and Ice” event last week after it was leaked via a Facebook fan group. As stated in the leak, the event will see increased spawns of Pokemon like Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Lapras, Swinub, and Sneasel, as well as extra XP bonuses for accurate throws and curveballs. Pokemon Go will also discount Lucky Eggs so that players can get even more of a boost when catching Pokemon during the event.

The event officially kicks off what’s supposed to be a huge summer for Pokemon Go. Also announced today was a Pokemon GO Fest in Chicago, the first in a series of live events taking place all around the world. The game also confirmed that a gym overhaul will take place shortly after the Solstice event. Pokemon Go developers have also hinted at Legendary Pokemon joining the game later this year.
Pokemon Go‘s Solstice Event will kick off on June 13 around 1 PM Pacific Time and run through June 20th. We’ll provide more information on the event when it goes live.
