Ever since its release earlier this year, Mass Effect: Andromeda has been getting a fair share of attention from its fans – but not all of it has been positive. Aside from complaints about the animation with some characters, there have been other little issues they have been noticing.

That said, the game hasn’t quite sold as well as Electronic Arts was expecting – and now it may have an effect on the game in the long-term.
An Austrian software company by the name of Sinclair Networks, which specializes in supporting game developers with “servers and networks as well as bug fixes and patches from some of the world’s leading game developers,” has made note that the upcoming story DLC for the game has been cancelled.
The company recently posted on Facebook talking about how it’s been canned, though the post has since been deleted. It reads as follows:
“This news saddens us to say, but it was made official after a meeting this week that there will be no story DLC for Mass Effect: Andromeda. Due to issues in initial production, heavy critique, significant delays in other projects it was decided to shelve the franchise for the time being and all resources and outsourcing are being focused to the 2018 release of Anthem.
“For the moment the Mass Effect series will be on ice until BioWare can decide which direction the franchise will go.
“The only content that will be produced will be the recurring APEX missions as well as patches as and when needed”
This may be distressing news for fans, but keep in mind that a. the post has been deleted, and b. BioWare and Electronic Arts haven’t confirmed anything regarding this. The game didn’t bomb that badly, but there are concerns about its long-term goals, so the possibility is there.
It seems like Sinclair may have been working on the DLC, indicating why they made the post. But, again, without word from BioWare, it’s unconfirmed. We’ll have to see what happens over the next few weeks in terms of how the game’s supported.
Mass Effect: Andromeda is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
