Insomniac Games’ new Spider-Man trailer for PlayStation 4 blew us away earlier this mornign when it debuted during PlayStation’s Paris Games Week media showcase. We’ve been dying to get more footage of the game in action, and the new trailer shows off the highs and lows of Peter Parker the man, and of Spider-Man the web-slinging superhero. Check it out above if you haven’t seen it already; we think you’re going to be so excited.

The trailer on its own is worth re-watching for the action alone, but there’s actually something more buried within the trailer that only the most eagle-eyed Marvel comics fans spotted the first time around. In the trailer we get some brand new looks at Mister Negative, who we assumed would be the main villain this time around, but Mister Negative isn’t the only baddy we get a glimpse of.

In fact, the trailer reveals a brand new villain that Insomniac hasn’t spoken a word about until now. Are you sitting down? Because this will be shocking.

Introducing Shocker

If you blinked, you might have missed it. Around the 1:46 mark of the new Spider-Man trailer you’ll catch a very brief glimpse of Spidey getting punched through the wall of a vault by none other than Shocker. He’s only in a few frames, and he’s moving pretty fast, but we tried to capture the best screen-cap we could. Take a look:

spider-man shocker

There’s no mistaking it. That’s definitely Shocker, and we’re a little surprised that Insomniac hasn’t followed up with any kind of release or blog post about the reveal of the villain. We also saw a brief glimpse of Kingpin, who we’ve seen before, and Miles Morales, who has been making some very short cameos up until this point. Now we know that Miles and Peter will be working together directly, at least in Parker’s superhero off hours.

As for Shocker, we still have no idea how he’ll fit into the story, or whether he’s working directly with Mister Negative or on his own. He played a small role in Spider-Man Homecoming, and so far it looks like his role will be somewhat minimal in the new PS4 game as well. We can’t wait to see more footage.

From the villains we’ve seen so far, who do you think should emerge as the main baddy in the new Spider-Man game?!

Who do you want to face as the main bad guy?
