The YouTuber by the name of Smash Grade shared the video above that uses Robin, Ryu, Bayonetta, and finally one of the Mii Fighters to represent all four of the elemental nations in Avatar: The Last Airbender. No mods were used to create the video, the YouTuber said, only video editing combined with the in-game camera system.
“The Intro to Avatar the Last Airbender recreated frame by frame in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,” the video’s description said. “A lot of tricks had to be done for this to work. No mods used. Video editing combined with smash’s camera mode is how I got most scenes to work!”
Other characters such as the Ice Climbers make appearances throughout the video as well, one of those fighters even staying true to Sokka’s boomerang next to “Katara.” The footage up in the top-left corner shows the actual intro for the animated show to prove how spot-on the recreation is. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate players who main different fighters might also recognize some of their favorite characters’ abilities being uses throughout the video as well to create the effects of the different element benders.
Responding to some of the feedback on Reddit where their video was shared with much of those comments showing approval for the video and asking for more, the content creator addresses questions about whether they could turn the video into something bigger like an entire episode or even a full series. The creator said it depends on the limitations of the game’s camera, but they aren’t ruling out more Avatar: The Last Airbender content.
“This was originally a one off thing but with the kind words and excellent reception, I will look into recreating episode or intros/trailers from other series,” the video creator said. “It all depends what is practical as it isn’t worth doing if this type of quality isn’t doable. My yt is always there if you want to keep up to date, otherwise I will obviously be posting it in this sub. Thanks again!”
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
