The dinosaur-themed survival game from Studio Wildcard called Ark: Survival Evolved is still set to be released in August, but players who have been anticipating its release will have to wait just a bit longer before they get the full version.

On Saturday, the game's team announced that they would be moving back the release date of the game a couple of weeks beyond the intended Aug. 8 release date. It's pretty close to the actual release date to have the game pushed back, but the developers said that they wanted to wait until they knew for sure that the game would have to be released late.

"As of today, ARK has completed its Gold Master and certification for retail release," an announcement from the game read on Saturday. "This process took a little longer than expected and as a result, our release date has been pushed back to August the 29th. We're deeply apologetic for those who were negatively affected by the delay; it sucks, it wasn't what we had wanted, nor planned but where we currently stand. We wanted to address this sooner but did not want to make any statements until we were completely sure of what was going to happen."

The free DLC, Ragnarock, that's planned for the game will also be pushed back to the same date, but they say that they delay will allow them to devote more time to the DLC's map that'll be increased by around a quarter of its current size. Fixes to the game and various performance improvements will also be shipped with the release version of the game.

While plenty of players who have been invested in the game for some time now are likely still quite excited to pick up their PC or console copy of Ark: Survival Evolved, the news that it's being pushed back may not come as a huge surprise.

Ark hit Steam back in 2015 in Early Access form and has stayed there since then, something that's understandable given how involved the game is supposed to be. But while in Early Access, players weren't thrilled with the fact that paid DLC was already offered for an unreleased game. The game also doubled in price in early July, just a month before the game's intended release, though the developers stated that they'd made it quite clear in the past that the increase was a very real possibility.

Ark: Survival Evolved will now be launching on Aug. 28 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
