What do Final Fantasy XV and Assassin's Creed Origins have in common? Other than a few RPG mechanics, not much to be honest. Be that as it may, these two games are about to collide in a bizarre way. Next week Final Fantasy XV players will be treated to some free DLC; an entire festival dedicated to the culture of assassination, and some very familiar costumes and combat maneuvers will make their way into the game.

Everything kicks off on August 30. Final Fantasy XV players who obtained the Dream Egg from the recent Moogle Chocobo Carnival event will receive Bayek's assassin regalia from Assassin's Creed Origins, which Noctis can wear. The following day, the "Assassin's Festival" DLC will hit Final Fantasy XV.

"The town of Lestallum will transform itself for the event with signs and banners signaling the arrival of the festival, and new activities will be available for players to participate in. It doesn't end there. The Assassin's Festival will have some additional themed items and features, including another outfit from Assassin's Creed, along with abilities that enable Noctis to explore more like an Assassin and even use some of the Assassins' more well-known abilities."

Well-known abilities, huh? Sounds to me like Noctis is going to get an aerial assassination move. In fact, you can see it pretty clearly in the promotional art here:

So you may be asking yourself, "why?" It seems like a totally random promotion, but it's actually been in the works for a while. According to the update, this all started years ago at a mutual meeting between these two teams at the Tokyo Game Show. "This collaboration is the result of being huge fans," says Ubisoft game director Ashraf Ismail. "There's a lot of respect between the two teams and we couldn't be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other's work."

Either way, it means more cool free stuff for Final Fantasy players. We'll take it!
