Battlefield 6 Reveals Season 1 Content & Two New Maps Releasing This Year

Battlefield 6‘s Season 1 content has been revealed and it will bring in new maps, modes, and even a handful of weapons. Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be a big return to form for the series. In 2021, Battlefield 2042 torpedoed the reputation of the franchise with a poor launch. The game had no campaign, was littered with bugs, went in a direction that fans didn’t want, and took months to get fixed. All of these major issues delayed the game’s post-launch content and set 2042 back in a major way. However, it seems like Battlefield 6 may be setting itself up for success.

Battlefield Studios learned a lot from Battlefield 2042 and it seems like those lessons learned are being applied in a big way here. For starters, Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer will come out the gate sprinting with Season 1 content. Just a couple of weeks after launch, fans will be treated to free new content in the form of maps, modes, and weapons. It’s going to allow Battlefield a chance to compete in the FPS space as fans won’t go much time without something new to experience in the game.

Battlefield 6 Season 1 Will Feature New Weapons, Maps, and More

Starting on October 28th, Battlefield 6 will begin Season 1 of its post-launch content. During each season, content will be rolled out every month, giving fans a constant feed of new stuff. On October 28th, Battlefield 6‘s multiplayer will get a new map set in an oil field, 3 new weapons, including a new carbine and sniper rifle, a new vehicle, a new mode, and a weapon attachment. It has also been teased that there’s more than that, but we don’t have the full details.

A few weeks later, on November 18th, a new map set in California known as Eastwood will hit the map rotation in Battlefield 6 alongside another new mode, shotgun, sidearm, and more. Additionally, this will also add a new feature known as Battle Pickups. Battlefield 4 fans will likely be familiar with this, as it allows you to find random, powerful weapons with limited ammo around the map. It’s unclear if this will be inserted into every map in the game or just Eastwood.

December will bring more content, including an icy-themed version of Empire State and a limited-time mode. All in all, it sounds like Battlefield 6 fans are going to have a great year. Hopefully the team can continue the momentum into next year. It has already been teased that Battlefield 6 will be bringing back fan-favorite maps down the line based on fan feedback, so make your voices heard if you want to see maps like Operation Metro or Caspian Border make a return.

It is also heavily rumored that Battlefield 6‘s battle royale is launching at the end of October as well. This may be a surprised saved for later or the team is still figuring out exact timing. Either way, it would be a bit surprising if it didn’t launch at all during Season 1.
