Call of Duty: WWII Beta Update Adds New Guns, Scorestreak, and More

An update pushed to Call of Duty: WWII’s private beta added several new guns as well as more scorestreaks and equipment to choose from.

The beta version of Call of Duty: WWII for the PlayStation 4 began a bit earlier than expected, but the update that was recently revealed helps keep things interesting by diversifying the limited options that are currently in the beta. It makes sense that not everything would be revealed just yet, but with the small selection of content that’s currently available, players who have been enjoying the beta so far will appreciate the mid-beta additions.

The update is now live for the PS4 beta, so if you’ve been taking a break, hop back in for the weekend to grind your way up to some new unlockables.

Increased Level Cap

If players hope to unlock the new content, they’ll first have to reach the necessary levels to do so like was required with the previous unlockables.

With the update that went live on Saturday, Sledgehammer Games has now increased the level cap for the Call of Duty: WWII beta to level 25. This will allow players to take their beta progress to higher levels through a higher cap and more loot to earn along the way.

Players who have been taking part in the beta since it began early on Thursday have undoubtedly already hit the level cap, so raising it seems like a reasonable solution to make sure players stay interested throughout the weekend.

New Guns

The core part of the update and the additions that players will likely look forward to the most, two new guns have been added with the beta update.

The first of the two guns falls under the submachine gun category, the Waffe 28 making its way into Call of Duty: WWII. Those who prefer the Airborne division will be able to make good use of the new gun that’s unlockable at level 22, but anyone can use it as long as they reach the required level and unlock it.

Adding a new option to the secondary weapon choices, the 1911 pistol is also now available to unlock once players reach the level cap of 25.

A New Scorestreak

For players that have no problem snowballing in games and turning their kills and objectives into scorestreaks, a new unlockable scorestreak is also now available.

Unlockable at level 24, just before players reach the level cap, the Fighter Pilot scorestreak. From previews of all of the scorestreaks that came before the beta was released, it appears that this scorestreak will allow players to briefly take on the role of a Fighter Pilot after selecting a lane to target on an old-fashioned map. While piloting the plane, players will be able to shoot enemies from high above the map for a brief time.

The scorestreak joins the ranks of more common options like a Recon Aircraft and a Glide Bomb, but if you can earn the expensive scorestreak, the payoff will definitely be worth it.

More Equipment and Basic Training

The last of the additions to the Call of Duty: WWII beta, the recent update introduced a familiar equipment option as well as a new Basic Training perk.

Adding a third option to the lethal equipment category, the S-Mine 44 is now unlockable at level 21 and usable for players’ created classes. Despite the name, many experienced Call of Duty players will likely recognize the equipment by the more well-known name of Bouncing Betty. Like the Waffe that was added with the update, the equipment was usable if players chose a default, pre-made class, but the update now allows it to be added to individual classes.

Rounding out the update is the Energetic Basic Training perk, an eleventh option that’s available at level 23, the last of the unlockable perks for now.
