While we aren't quite getting the Burnout 3: Takedown sequel that we so desperately want – seriously, Electronic Arts, it'd be a gold mine – we are getting the next best thing from Three Fields Entertainment with Danger Zone.

Originally introduced earlier this year, Danger Zone is an all new 3D vehicular destruction game where players can "crash for cash" by creating some of the biggest car crashes they can, and then upping the ante by using explosive Smashbreakers.

If that sounds familiar, it's because, well, it's Burnout 3's Crash mode in spiritual successor mode. Considering that Three Fields is made up of some staff from Burnout's original development team at Criterion, it only makes sense that it would bring the mode back with a vengeance.

Today, the developer released a new piece of gameplay footage from the forthcoming release, taking place in a level called Up the Junction. In it, players are tasked to rack up as much damage as humanly possible within the allotted time limit. With each successful series of wrecks they get in the stage, they get a Smashbreaker, which essentially enables them to blow up the vehicle and chain in even more damage. This can be done several times, and, done the right way, you can amass millions of bucks in damage easily.

The game is also strewn with bonus pickups aplenty, including some bonus goodies that you can use to enhance your destructive performance as you cruise along on the track and set up a bank-breaking run of chaos and disorder – and that's just what those Burnout fans have been itching for.

In addition, Danger Zone will also come with online leaderboards, so you can compare your best destruction scores with friends and see how much better you can get with a little more timing on your part.

Check out the footage below, and get ready to cruise into the Danger Zone when it arrives on May 30th for PlayStation 4 and PC. It's currently priced at $12.99, which is a small price to pay when it comes to leaving millions of dollars of damage in your wake. Plus, think of the stress relief!
