The MIDA Multi-Tool is a weapon every Destiny 2 player is familiar with. If you’re not currently using it right now, you’re getting killed by it in the Crucible. Everyone and their Guardian’s mom is using the MMT right now, and it’s starting to rub me the wrong way. It’s turning the Crucible into a totally monotonous flatland, and Bungie either needs to crank out a few more exotic rifles worth equipping in opposition, or nerf the damn thing.

Yeah, I said it. Look, I’m a primary scout rifle and pulse rifle user, so I get the appeal. I know exactly why the MMT is so popular, and my main scout rifle in the original Destiny was “Last Extremity,” specifically because it let you keep your radar on-screen while aiming down the sights. This is a huge boon, and something that every Multi-Tool user enjoys right now in Destiny 2 to the chagrin of their non-MIDA using opponents.
I’m not the only one.
Am I a salty loser?ย I can be, but not in this instance.ย I’m doing just fine in the Crucible right now. I enjoy an average efficiency rating ranging between 2.0-3.0. I’m just getting really sick of hearing, and seeing, the MIDA Multi-Tool flood every single Crucible match. I’m all for incredibly powerful weapons in Destiny, but I hate that there’s a clear and undisputed go-to, even if it’s only perceived as such.
And it’s not just me. Even Kotaku published a piece on the 5 best guns in Destiny 2, and you know what number one is? You guessed it: The MIDA Multi-Tool. You know what number two is? Also the MIDA Multi-Tool. It’s also numbers three, four, and five. I have to admit, I laughed out loud at that one. It’s a little tongue-in-cheek, sure, but it also illustrates my point. Everyone knows that this is the rifle to bring into the Crucible, and for those of us who spend most of our time in the Crucible, we’re ready for a little bit of variety. How about it, Bungie?
