Friday the 13th: The Game got off to a bit of a rocky start. The developers grossly underestimated interest in the game, and multiplayer servers simply were not ready for the torrent of blood-thirsty players who were eager to dive in and start slaying counselors (or running for their lives) on launch day. Glitches, matchmaking errors, minor bugs, and server hiccups have plagued players since day-one, and the folks at Gun Media want to apologize the best way the know how: with a lot of free stuff. Check out their apology video above to see what kind of reparations are headed your way.

The coolest reward by far is this retro Jason skin, based off of the original Friday the 13th game on the NES. The original chiptune theme music from that game has also been remastered and included for free. For those of you who played and loved the original growing up, this makes for a really neat addition to the game. The free new costume drops tomorrow, along with a bunch of other goodies.

Counselors are receiving two brand new outfits each. Additionally, players are all receiving 13,000 customization points across all platforms. The cherry on top? We have a double XP weekend coming up, starting on June 23 until June 25.

"We just wanted to say that we're sorry," Gun Media said in their video. "You guys destroyed our servers (and our expectations). We want to make up for that, and thank you for your patience... Thank you all again for your patience while we fixed those pesky servers and launch issues."

Doubtless, many of you are going to hold on to your bitterness since you paid $40 for a game that still breaks down from time to time. Still, we'd urge you to remember that we live in an age of enormous day-one patches and early access games. Hell, I couldn't connect to another soul online in Tekken 7 for over a week after launch, and Bandai Namco has an incomparably large team and budget. Just continue to be patient. We're all getting the game we deserve eventually.
