The Not A Hero DLC was one of two upcoming content expansions that are on the way for the game, but it’s perhaps the one that people are looking forward to the most since it brings back a fan-favorite character. Chris Redfield looks a bit different in this DLC than he has in past Resident Evil games, but he’s still bringing the same gruff attitude with a whole arsenal of weapons made to blow away some zombies.
If you’ve been keeping up with the ongoing development of Resident Evil 7, you’ll likely need no reminder of Chris Redfield’s mission to pursue Lucas, the son of the Baker family. While the other members of the family relied on brute strength or a whole lot of bugs when trying to kill Ethan, the protagonist of the main story, Lucas is much craftier than the rest of his family. The deranged son relies more on traps and trickery instead, two skills that are both shown in great detail in the trailer above. From drills to trip lasers to even putting others in sinister traps for Redfield to save, Lucas appears to have refreshed his trap selection just for Redfield.
While traversing Lucas’ traps in the mines that are filled with bloated, regenerating enemies, Redfield’s coming into the fray much more prepared than Ethan was. Redfield has an updated HUD and plenty of new weapons at his disposal, and he’ll also be able to use a signature move from older Resident Evil games where he can activate a button prompt to perform a vicious melee strike to a stunned opponent.
With everything that Not a Hero has to offer, one of the best parts about the DLC is that it’s going to be completely free for those who own RE7. It’ll be fully compatible with the VR mode as well, so those who prefer to play the game that way won’t have to skip a beat.
Resident Evil 7’s Not a Hero DLC is scheduled to release on Dec. 12.
